THE INOUE BROTHERS... A curated collaboration item between French artist Julien Colombier and ONE KILN CERAMICS.
THE INOUE BROTHERS…
The older brother, Satoshi, was born in 1978, and Kiyoshi in 1980. Both were born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark. They call their designs—which are rooted in a love for Japanese delicacy and Nordic simplicity, hallmarks of “The Inoue Brothers”—“Scandinasian” design. Satoshi works as a graphic designer based in Copenhagen, while Kiyoshi works as a hair designer based in London. They devote most of the income they earn from these jobs to the activities of “The Inoue Brothers.”
Julien Colombier
Born in Paris in 1972. His studio and home are still in Paris, France. Julien began drawing at the age of two, and his debut exhibition as an artist took place in 1993. In 2007, Julien pioneered the “chalk on blackboard” style, which gained recognition in Paris’s high-end art scene. This style emerged from graffiti and skateboard culture, which had the greatest influence on him during his youth. It is the origin of the crayon-style on modern black canvases. Gaining attention as a new-style artist in Paris, he was approached by Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel, and his first collaboration with Chanel was unveiled in 2011. Since then, he has collaborated with various brands, including the crystal brand Baccarat, Converse, Maison Pierre Frey, Cartier, Bulgari, and Diptyque. All of Julien’s art features nature, plants, or graphic shapes as motifs, expressed powerfully through a blend of delicacy and vivid colors.
